Infosys Prize 2010

PHYSICAL SCIENCES: SANDEEP TRIVEDI  for finding an ingenious way to solve two of the most outstanding puzzles of superstring theory simultaneously - what is the origin of the dark energy of the  universe? why is there nomassless scalar particle?His work has revolutionised this field and forms the basis of much ongoing reserch througout the world.

ENGINEERING AND COMPUTER SCIENCE: ASHUTHOSH SHARMA   in recognition of his fundamental contributions to the fields surfaces and intrefaces,adhesion,pattern formation and hydrodynamics which have practical applications in areas like energy storage,filtration,micro-electro-mechanical systems and optoelectronics.
    
MATHEMATICAL SCIENCE: CHANDRASHEKHAR KHRE   in recognition fundamental contributions to number theory,particularly his solutions of the serre conjecture.
khare's work is a major breakthrough in the field with spectacularconsequences, and the many new ideas in it are expected to dominate the field for years to come.

LIFE SCIENCE: CHETAN E CHITNIS  for his pioneering work in understanding the interaction of the malarial parasite and its host,leading to the devloppment of viable malaria vaccine. His work helped in narrowing the region of association and development in antibodies to prevent this association and infection. Based on this work,clinical trials on vaccines to eradicate the malarial parasite are underway.

SOCIAL SCIENCE-SOCIOLOGY: AMITA BAVISKAR  in recognition of her contributions as an outstanding analyst of social and environmental movements in modern india. Her studies have shown that the best intended efforts of major government interventions for rural devlopment in india often fail because they become implicated in local patronage whose own forms are rapidly changiing .

SOCIAL SCIENCE-SOCIAL ANTHROPOLGY : NANDINI SUNDAR in recognition of her contribution as an  outstanding analyst of social identities, includingtribe and caste and the politics of knowledge in modern india.
