HOW DO GET PAN CARD FOR FOREIGN INVESTORS ( FOREIGN NATIONALS )

Finance ministry has simplified norms for foreign nationals and foreign institutional investors to obtain Permanent Account Numbers (PAN), also KYC (know your customer) compliance for any investment they make in Indian stocks.

1. foreign national will have to produce either her/his citizenship number or taxpayer identification number to obtain a PAN.
2. introduce a new Form 49AA for foreign nationals and FIIs.
3. The revised guidelines ensure that  They can get copies of their documents attested by recognized authorities in their respective countries. Several countries and trade and industry organizations had represented the finance ministry seeking changes in the rules, in particular documents to be accepted as proof of identity and address and their attestation.
4. The department of economic affairs and the central board of direct taxes (CBDT) also worked on the requirements of PAN and meeting KYC obligation. "Since most of the basic information for both are common, it was decided to harmonize them into one so that compliance burden for a foreign investor is substantially reduced," said a senior finance ministry official. The directorate of Income Tax has devised a single integrated form that incorporates the requirements of both PAN and KYC.

Know your way through stations
There's prominent signage to lead you to the platform. Once you step through the station's entry gates, you're guided to ticket counters where ticket fares are displayed prominently on a board.
"At all stations, information on the route and fare details from MG Road to different stations to Byappanahalli will be displayed." Passengers can either buy tokens to their destination or smart cards to enter the platforms. "A token is valid only for 20 minutes from the time it's bought. Smart cards are like e-purses which can store money".

Passengers can swipe smart cards/ transit cards or tokens to pass through the automated fare collection (ATC) gates. After reaching the destination, tokens should be dropped in the coin slots. If a passenger crosses the destination and gets down at a different station, the ATC gates will not open. The person has to pay for the difference in amount. "At stations, people can use their tokens to get onto platform through escalators.

For the disabled and senior citizens, the touch-based guides lead to lifts. Switches are placed low enough so that physically disabled and visually impaired can use the lift. There is also a braille switch".

Except for MG Road station, ticket counters are on the first floor. After buying tickets, passengers can directly get onto the concourse. LCD displays show the train timings as the clock is connected to the GPS device on the Metro and information is on a real- time basis.

For security and to monitor train movements, CCTV cameras are placed at stations. "Passengers are not supposed to cross the yellow line on the platform or walk on the tracks. The do's and don'ts are clearly displayed at all stations".
